Jason M. Jenkins, M.S.E., ATC, LAT came to Vernon College in the fall of 2006 and has been an integral part to the success of the athletic programs. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education with emphasis in Athletic Training and Community Health in 1995 at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.

While at UNL, Jason was part of the 1994 National Champion Husker football team as the Head Student Athletic Trainer. He was the student athletic trainer for the baseball team that following spring. Having passed his NATABOC test and earning his ATC credentials, he went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Education with emphasis in Athletic Administration in 1997 from Wayne State College.

After completing his education, Jason joined the workforce at Fremont Physical Therapy and later went to work for Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont, Nebraska. There he began an outreach program that grew to 10 schools in a four county area, servicing over 900 athletes annually. While at FAMC, Jason was involved with many state organizations and was an elected member of the Nebraska State Athletic Trainers Association. In this capacity, he served as Treasurer/Secretary, Vice President and President.

Having suffered through many grueling winters, it was time that Jason and his family headed south where they have been since coming to Vernon College.

Jason was named the fourth Athletic Director for Vernon College in August of 2023. While in this position he still held the position of the athletic trainer for the next 2 years. 

Jason is married to Shannon Jenkins, RN, BSN, OCN and together they have three children. Both of their sons, Spencer (34) & Trevor (32) have served in the United States Marine Corps and their daughter, Brianna (29) just finished culinary school at San Jacinto College.
