Game 1: Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity Holds Off Western Texas College For Victory

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity got out to a six-run lead in the second inning and held on for a 12-10 victory over Western Texas College on Friday. Western Texas College scored nine runs in the failed comeback. #7, #8,  #17, #8, #23, and #34 powered the rally with RBIs.

Bats blistered as Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity collected 11 hits and Western Texas College tallied ten in the high-scoring game.

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity got things started in the first inning when Zac Delongdoubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Western Texas College scored three runs in the fifth inning.  #8 and #23 each drove in runs during the inning.

Western Texas College knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the sixth inning.  #11drove in one when he singled.

#5 got the start for Western Texas College. He surrendered four runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one.

Sutten Tidwell started the game for Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity. He went five innings, allowing four runs on ten hits, striking out two and walking one.  Lane Pirkle threw one and one-third innings in relief.
