Game 1: Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Luna Community College

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity stole the lead late and defeated Luna Community College 10-6 on Saturday.  Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity trailed 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Brooks Betcher homered on a 1-0 count, scoring four runs.

Betcher led Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-4 at the plate.  Betcher drove in runs on a grand slam in the sixth.

Luna Community College got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for Luna Community College.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity tied things up at three. Zac Delong hit a solo homer.

Luna Community College scored three runs in the fifth inning. Luna Community College scored its runs on a home run by #7.

Sutten Tidwell toed the rubber for Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity. He surrendered five runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out five.

#1 led things off on the mound for Luna Community College. He allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out five.  #33 and #19 entered the game as relief, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity socked four home runs on the day. Betcher put one out in the sixth inning. Ryan Reed went yard in the first inning. Ethan Rodriguez went for the long ball in the sixth inning. Delong had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity racked up ten hits on the day.  Reed, Rece Parker, Delong, Betcher, and Rodriguez each had multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity.  Rodriguez, Betcher, Delong, Parker, and Reed all had two hits to lead Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity.

#7 went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Luna Community College in hits. Luna Community College didn't commit a single error in the field. #9 had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

 

Game 2: Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning Again For Another Victory Over Luna Community College

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity stole the lead late in the game in a 13-12 victory over Luna Community College on Saturday.  Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity was down 11-10 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Brooks Betcher tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity collected 17 hits and Luna Community College had 13 in the high-scoring affair.

Luna Community College got on the board in the first inning.  #30 singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity tied things up at three.  Betcher drove in one when he singled.

Luna Community College scored four runs in the fourth inning. Luna Community College offense in the inning was led by #3, #2, and #13, who all drove in runs.

Corey Schulz led things off on the hill for Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and nine runs while striking out five and walking one.

#23 was on the pitcher's mound for Luna Community College. He allowed seven hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two.  #29 and #4 entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity tallied two home runs on the day. Cade Hamilton put one out in the sixth inning. Ethan Rodriguez had a dinger in the sixth inning.

Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity racked up 17 hits.  Rece Parker, Marco Barrera, Betcher, Jared Baehr, and Noah Anderson each managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity.  Betcher, Barrera, and Parker each managed three hits to lead Vernon College Chaparrals Varsity.

Luna Community College tallied 13 hits.  #13, #12, #30, #7, and #3 each had multiple hits for Luna Community College.  #13 led Luna Community College with three hits in five at bats.
