Baseball scores 31 runs in the double header but fall to FPC

GM1: Vernon College Chaps Varsity Stays Scrappy In Loss To Plainsmen

Despite an 11-run deficit in the sixth inning, Vernon College Chaps Varsity almost came all the way back, eventually falling 18-16 to Plainsmen on Tuesday.  Vernon College Chaps Varsity put up 11 runs in the failed comeback. Luke PiperLogan Williams,  Noah AndersonMarco Barrera, Zak Betancourt, and Jhonmy Martinez fueled the rally with RBIs.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity couldn't keep up with Plainsmen early in the game. Plainsmen scored on a home run by Cory Bonstrom in the first inning, a home run by Cameron Frenchin the first inning, a triple by Bonstrom in the second inning, and a home run by Yadier Medina in the second inning.

Plainsmen opened up scoring in the first inning.  Bonstrom hit a solo homer.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity tallied eight runs in the sixth inning.  Vernon College Chaps Varsity's big bats in the inning were led by singles by Anderson and Barrera, doubles by Piper and Betancourt, a walk by Williams, and a sacrifice fly by Martinez.

Plainsmen scored six runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Plainsmen was led by Wesley Flatt, Richard Witherspoon, and Trevor Stiles, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Rijnaldo Euson led things off on the pitcher's mound for Plainsmen. Euson went three innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven.

Maverick Folmar started the game for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. The righthander lasted two innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out two.  Foster KreuzerWill HahnfeldJeremy Yurcak, and Ryan Galvan each entered the game as relief, throwing two and two-thirds innings, one inning, one inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity socked one home run on the day. Anderson had a homer in the fifth inning.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity collected 16 hits on the day.  Barrera, Jaden Fowler, Anderson, Brendon Concannon, and Piper each had multiple hits for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. Barrera went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Vernon College Chaps Varsity in hits.  Concannonled Vernon College Chaps Varsity with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.

Plainsmen tallied 16 hits in the game.  Flatt, Bonstrom, Medina, Witherspoon, and Darren Zarrillo all managed multiple hits for Plainsmen. Plainsmen didn't commit a single error in the field. Stiles had the most chances in the field with 12.

GM2: Vernon College Chaps Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Vernon College Chaps Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 23-15 loss to Plainsmen on Tuesday. Plainsmen scored on a home run by Preston Mills, a walk by Juan Carlos Terrero, a walk by Cory Bonstrom, a walk by Mills, an error, a triple by Hayden Foster, and a triple by Darren Zarrillo in the first inning.

Despite the loss, Vernon College Chaps Varsity did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Plainsmen had 12 hits on the way to victory.

Plainsmen fired up the offense in the first inning.  Mills homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity notched 12 runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from home runs by Rece ParkerJhonmy MartinezReece Burke, and Noah Anderson, by Parker, and an error on a ball put in play by Brendon Concannon.

Daniel Cardona led things off on the mound for Plainsmen. The righty went three innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out six.

Joismer Gonzalez toed the rubber for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. The pitcher lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and ten runs while striking out two.  Bryce WinterSergio Gallardo, and Gareth Tobias each contributed in relief for Vernon College Chaps Varsity.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity smacked five home runs on the day. Parker had a long ball in the fourth inning. Burke went for the long ball in the fourth inning. Anderson went deep in the fourth inning. Zak Betancourt put one out in the first inning. Martinez had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity racked up ten hits in the game.  Burke, Anderson, and Concannon each managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaps Varsity.  Concannon, Anderson, and Burke each collected two hits to lead Vernon College Chaps Varsity.

Plainsmen collected 12 hits on the day.  Yadier Medina, Mills, Cameron French, and Fostereach had multiple hits for Plainsmen.
