Chaps get back in the win column at home versus Seward

VERNON, TX - Vernon College Chaps Varsity's Early Lead Over Seward County Community College Sets Stage For Victory

Vernon College Chaps Varsity defeated Seward County Community College 12-9 thanks to a strong start.  Vernon College Chaps Varsity scored on a single by Luke Piper in the first inning, a triple by Brendon Concannon in the second inning, and a home run by Zak Betancourt in the second inning.

Bats blistered as Vernon College Chaps Varsity collected 12 hits and Seward County Community College tallied 15 in the high-scoring game.

In the bottom of the first inning, Vernon College Chaps Varsity tied things up at two when Piper singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Concannon tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs and Betancourt homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity put up four runs in the eighth inning.  Reece Burke, Piper, and Noah Anderson powered the big inning with RBIs.

Colten Panaranto led things off on the hill for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. The pitcher went six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one.

#1 was on the pitcher's mound for Seward County Community College. The bulldog lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking zero. #23 and #4 entered the game as relief, throwing four and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity socked two home runs on the day. Betancourt went yard in the second inning. Jhonmy Martinez put one out in the fourth inning.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity tallied 12 hits on the day.  Marco BarreraJared Baehr, Concannon, and Betancourt all managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. Betancourt, Concannon, Baehr, and Barrera each managed two hits to lead Vernon College Chaps Varsity.  Vernon College Chaps Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Betancourt made the most plays with seven.

Seward County Community College collected 15 hits on the day.  #14, #7, #35, and #16 each managed multiple hits for Seward County Community College.  #14 went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Seward County Community College in hits.
