Game 1: Vernon College Chaps Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Vernon College Chaps Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 2-0 loss to Weatherford College on Wednesday. Weatherford College took the lead on a home run in the second inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Weatherford College pitchers struck out nine, while Vernon College Chaps Varsity sat down six.

Weatherford College got things started in the second inning when #5 hit a solo homer.

One bright spot for Vernon College Chaps Varsity was a single by Marco Barrera in the sixth inning.

#44 got the start for Weatherford College. The ace went seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out nine.

Justin Karbowski started the game for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. The righthander surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Barrera led Vernon College Chaps Varsity with one hit in three at bats.  Vernon College Chaps Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Zak Betancourt had the most chances in the field with seven.

Weatherford College was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. #16 made the most plays with eight.

Game 2: Early Lead For Weatherford College Seals Fate For Vernon College Chaps Varsity

Vernon College Chaps Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-2 loss to Weatherford College on Wednesday. Weatherford College scored on a sacrifice fly by #2 and a single by #24 in the first inning.

The Vernon College Chaps Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Weatherford College, giving up 11 runs.

Weatherford College got on the board in the first inning.  #2's sac fly scored one run for Weatherford College.

Weatherford College scored four runs in the eighth inning. Weatherford College's big inning was driven by a single by #24 and a double by #14.

#19 got the start for Weatherford College. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out two.

Maverick Folmar started the game for Vernon College Chaps Varsity. The pitcher surrendered four runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out one.  Ryan GalvanNicholas WilsonSergio Gallardo, and Foster Kreuzer each entered the game as relief, throwing one inning, one inning, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

Weatherford College launched two home runs on the day. #11 went yard in the sixth inning. #5 had a dinger in the fifth inning.

Vernon College Chaps Varsity scattered nine hits in the game.  Marco Barrera and Jaquavius Davis each racked up multiple hits for Vernon College Chaps Varsity.  Barrera led Vernon College Chaps Varsity with three hits in four at bats.  Vernon College Chaps Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Noah Anderson had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

Weatherford College tallied 16 hits in the game.  #24, #11, #16, #5, and #14 each collected multiple hits for Weatherford College.  #24 went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Weatherford College in hits. Weatherford College didn't commit a single error in the field. #16 had the most chances in the field with six.
