Baseball Sweeps DH with Weatherford at Home

The Chaparral baseball team swept a home double header against Weatherford College to split their conference series. The final scores were 4-2 and 13-9.

Game 1

Pitching and defense was on display in game one. Zak Taylor (Aubrey, TX) took the mound for the Chaparrals and delivered a quality start going five innings allowing only four hits and two runs while striking out five. Weatherford scored both of their runs on a two-run homerun in the second inning. Angel Diaz (Naranjito, Puerto Rico) came on in relief in the 6th and pitched the final two innings on one hit and no runs.

The Chaparral offense jumped out to an early 2 run lead in the 1st on a triple by Cole Miears (Kerrville, TX), an RBI single by Pierre-Emmanuel Planes (Lauzerville, France), and a sac fly by Jayden Hill (Frisco, TX). Situational hitting was the key the rest of the way as the Chaps were able to get base runners on, move them over and drive them in in both the 2nd and 5th.  The third run crossed the plate on a Zak skinner (Melbourne, Australia) sac fly in the and and the fourth run was scored on a Sergio Ortiz (Yabuccoa,  Puerto Rico) sac fly in the 5th.

The Chaparral offense exploded in game 2 scoring 13 runs and pounding out 20 hits. Zak Skinner led the way going a perfect 6 for 6 at the plate. Cole Miears contributed four hits while Dillon Flores (Frisco, TX) and Alvaro Espinal (Attleboro, MA) each had three hits. Homeruns were hit by Elvis Rumaldo (Canovanas,  Puerto Rico), Espinal, Jayden Hill, and Flores.
