Well it has been a long 4 years of building and a lot of outside factors happening to the team this year! Despite the odds, Vernon College Rodeo is finally starting to be recognized as a team to watch! Last week the women's team came in second place and the men's in fourth. Leading the mens team was steer wrestler Colton Leech who turned in two 4 second runs good enough to place in both rounds and end up fourth in the avg. The womens team, Skylar Getman made the short rnd in  the barrel racing on her new horse! Leading the womens team last week was miss "Tik Tok" Hattie Haynes in the goat tying. She won the long round by three tenths with a 6.8 and second in the short rnd giving her the win and a new buckle to show for it! The womens team is now in the run for a chance to qualify to the CNFR! They are in the top five now and only a within a couple hundred points of qualifying. To qualify as a team they must be in the top two.
