Game 1: Two Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against McCook Community College

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity defeated McCook Community College 12-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Laynie Bastow induced a groundout from #9 to finish off the game.

In the first inning, Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity got their offense started. Kyla Snow drew a walk, scoring one run.

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity put up five runs in the third inning.  Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity batters contributing to the big inning included Jaleigh DurstPeyton PicouStonie Carrillo, and Pal Egan, who each had RBIs in the inning.

A single by #10 in the third inning was a positive for McCook Community College.

Jade Guzman was the winning pitcher for Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity. She allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking zero. Bastow threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

#13 took the loss for McCook Community College. She surrendered 12 runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out one.

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity tallied nine hits.  Carrillo, Picou, Adrianna Cooney, and Egan each collected multiple hits for Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity.  Egan, Cooney, Picou, and Carrillo all had two hits to lead Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity.  Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Durst had the most chances in the field with six.


Game 2: Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity Defeats McCook Community College Despite Allowing 3-Run Inning

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity managed through a push by McCook Community College in the fifth inning where Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity coughed up three runs, but Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity still won 20-3 on Friday.

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsitywas led by Stonie CarrilloChloe BryantAlexis HoangJaleigh DurstKaila Eastburn, and Adrianna Cooney, who all drove in runs.

The Chaps opened up scoring in the first inning. An error scored one run for Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity.

VC notched 11 runs in the third inning.  Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity offense in the inning was led by Carrillo, Bryant, Hoang, Durst, Eastburn, and  Cooney, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Eastburn led the Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity to victory in the pitcher's circle. She went three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out six.  Laynie Bastow threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

#00 took the loss for McCook Community College. She lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and nine runs while striking out two.

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity hit one home run on the day. Durst had a dinger in the third inning.

Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity racked up 15 hits on the day.  Bryant, Carrillo, Hoang, Kyla Snow, Cooney, and Destinee Urea each racked up multiple hits for Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity.  

Urea, Cooney, Snow, Hoang, Carrillo, and Bryant each managed two hits to lead Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity. Vernon College Softball Chaparral Softball Varsity tore up the base paths, as seven players stole at least two bases. Hoang led the way with three.

#9 went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead McCook Community College in hits.
