The Vernon College softball team moved up one spot in the NJCAA National Top 20 Poll and currently sits at No. 20 in the nation.
For the 1st time under Head Coach Brittnaie Talley her teams enter the NJCAA National Top 20 Poll. It has been a journey and a build-up to this moment starting back in 2016 when Coach T took over the program.
After 2 years of rebuilding the 2018-2019 posted the best record in 10 years, 34-17, also making the conference tournament for the first time in 5 years. Now they are looking to continue to build on their success and take the program a step further.
The Chaps, who started 4-0 in conference, own a 19-1 overall record and now set their sights on a mid-week match up with conference foe Weatherford and a big time weekend showdown with the No. 15 team in the nation, McLennan. MCC and Vernon will play a double header on Saturday as Vernon looks to hand MCC its first conference loss of the season.
