Gibson Shines At The Plate In Vernon College Chaparral Varsity Victory Over Clarendon College Bulldogs

Four hits from Kiana Gibson helped lead the way for Vernon College Chaparral Varsity over Clarendon College Bulldogs 13-4 on Wednesday.  Gibson doubled in the first, tripled in the second, singled in the third, and homered in the fifth.

Vernon College Chaparral Varsity got on the board in the first inning when Gibson doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Vernon College Chaparral Varsity put up six runs in the second inning. The rally was led by a walk by Adrianna Cooney, a triple by Gibson, a single by Kaila Eastburn, a sacrifice fly by Tatum Trester, by Logan Menzies, and a double by Camile Nunez.

Eastburn was the winning pitcher for Vernon College Chaparral Varsity. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking zero.  Laynie Bastow and Laynie Brown entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Iliana Tejeda started the game for Clarendon College Bulldogs. The righthander allowed eight hits and nine runs over one and one-third innings.  Jasmine Valdez threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Vernon College Chaparral Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Gibson went deep in the fifth inning.

Vernon College Chaparral Varsity totaled 13 hits in the game.  Gibson, Eastburn, Nunez, and Callie Yellin all managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral Varsity.  Gibson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Vernon College Chaparral Varsity in hits.  Vernon College Chaparral Varsity stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kaylyn Aguirre led the way with three.

Clarendon College Bulldogs scattered six hits in the game.  Unique Rodriguez and Jordyn Ball all managed multiple hits for Clarendon College Bulldogs.
