Softball splits the day with #9 Grayson

GM1: With Kaila On The Mound, Vernon College Chaparral Shuts Out Vikings

Kaila Eastburn didn't allow a single run against Vikings, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Vernon College Chaparral to a 1-0 victory on Tuesday

The pitching was strong on both sides. Eastburn struck out six, while Dylann Kaderka sat down four.

One bright spot for Vikings was a single by Dominique Rodriguez in the second inning.

Eastburn got the win for Vernon College Chaparral. The righty lasted eight innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out six and walking zero.

Kaderka took the loss for Vikings. The lefthander lasted seven and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four.

Kiana Gibson led Vernon College Chaparral with two hits in four at bats.

Azia Lokeni went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Vikings in hits. Vikings didn't commit a single error in the field. Maci Sanders had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

 

GM2: Vernon College Chaparral Drops Game To Vikings After Late Score

Vernon College Chaparral lost the lead late in a 14-5 defeat to Vikings on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with Vikings batting in the top of the sixth when JT Smith doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

The Vernon College Chaparral struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Vikings, giving up 14 runs.

Vikings got things started in the first inning when Cheyenne Stark grounded out, scoring one run.

Vernon College Chaparral knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Kiana Gibson doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaparral notched four runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by a single by America Rubio and a double by Gibson.

Zoe Lott got the win for Vikings. Lott surrendered five runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out three.

Laynie Brown took the loss for Vernon College Chaparral. The righty allowed two runs on zero hits.

Laynie Bastow started the game for Vernon College Chaparral. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing 17 hits and 12 runs while striking out two

Vernon College Chaparral racked up ten hits.  Gibson and Chloe Bryant each collected multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Bryant and Gibson each collected two hits to lead Vernon College Chaparral.  Vernon College Chaparral didn't commit a single error in the field. Stonie Carrillo had the most chances in the field with seven.

Vikings had 17 hits in the game.  Smith, Dominique Rodriguez, Sage Harlow, and Hailey Vessall managed multiple hits for Vikings.
