Softball splits the regular season series with #9 Grayson

GM1: 4-Hit Day For Brake Earns Vernon College Chaparral Victory Over Vikings

Adie Brake gave Vikings fits, as Brake bagged four hits in Vernon College Chaparral's 14-7 victory on Friday.  Brake singled in the first, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and homered in the seventh.

Vernon College Chaparral earned the victory despite allowing Vikings to score four runs in the seventh inning. Vikings batters contributing to the big inning included Zoe Lott and JT Smith, all driving in runs in the inning.

Vernon College Chaparral got things started in the first inning.  Brake drove in two when Brake singled.

Vikings knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the second inning, when Smithgrounded out, scoring one run.

Vernon College Chaparral took the lead for good with six runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored two runs for Vernon College Chaparral, America Rubio singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, and Camile Nunez homered on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Laynie Bastow got the win for Vernon College Chaparral. The righthander allowed 14 hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out three.

Dylann Kaderka took the loss for Vikings. Kaderka allowed 15 hits and 14 runs over seven innings, striking out seven.

Vernon College Chaparral smacked three home runs on the day. Brake had a homer in the seventh inning. Rubio went for the long ball in the seventh inning. Nunez put one out in the fourth inning.

Vernon College Chaparral racked up 15 hits in the game.  Brake, Rubio, Adrianna Cooney, and Stonie Carrillo all had multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Brake led Vernon College Chaparral with four hits in four at bats.

Vikings racked up 14 hits on the day.  Maci Sanders, Cheyenne Stark, Lott, and Smith all collected multiple hits for Vikings.

 

GM2: Vernon College Chaparral Stymied By Vikings, Lose 10-0

Vernon College Chaparral couldn't keep up with Vikings and fell 10-0 on Friday.

A single by Adrianna Cooney in the second inning was a positive for Vernon College Chaparral.

Zoe Lott was credited with the victory for Vikings. The righthander went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking zero.

Laynie Brown took the loss for Vernon College Chaparral. The righthander surrendered nine runs on ten hits over two and two-thirds innings.

Vikings hit two home runs on the day. Dominique Rodriguez had a homer in the second inning. Sage Harlow had a dinger in the second inning.

Chloe Bryant, Cooney, and Kim Hierholzer all had one hit to lead Vernon College Chaparral.

Vikings collected ten hits.  Hailey Vess and JT Smith all managed multiple hits for Vikings. Vikings was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Cheyenne Stark made the most plays with seven.
