GM1: Vernon College Chaparral Takes Early Lead In Victory Over Hill College

Vernon College Chaparral grabbed an early lead on its way to a 5-2 victory over Hill College on Wednesday.  Vernon College Chaparral scored on a home run by Camile Nunez and a double by Stonie Carrillo in the second inning.

Vernon College Chaparral pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Nunez hit a solo homer and Carrillo doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Laynie Bastow was the winning pitcher for Vernon College Chaparral. The pitcher surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking zero.

H Spring took the loss for Hill College. Spring went six innings, allowing five runs on 12 hits and striking out four.

Vernon College Chaparral launched two home run on the day. Nunez had a dinger in the second and third innings.

Vernon College Chaparral racked up 12 hits.  Nunez and Kelsye Loughman each had multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Nunez led Vernon College Chaparral with three hits in four at bats.  Vernon College Chaparral didn't commit a single error in the field. Loughman had the most chances in the field with 12.

Montes went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hill College in hits. Hill College didn't commit a single error in the field. Montes had four chances in the field, the most on the team.
