GM1: In Walk-Off, Vernon College Chaparral Loses To McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity

It came down to the last play, but Vernon College Chaparral was on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity on Wednesday. The game was tied at five with McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Melayna Lopez singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Vernon College Chaparral lost despite out-hitting McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity 12 to ten.

McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity took an early lead in the first inning when Sidney Campion doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Reese Taylor led things off in the circle for McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity. The righthander surrendered four runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out four.

Laynie Bastow started the game for Vernon College Chaparral. The righty allowed ten hits and six runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Vernon College Chaparral scattered 12 hits in the game.  Chloe BryantAdie BrakeKiana Gibson, and Logan Menzies each managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral. Menzies, Gibson, Brake, and Bryant all had two hits to lead Vernon College Chaparral.

McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity collected ten hits.  Kenzie Chambers, Bailey Krolczyk, and Lopez all managed multiple hits for McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity.

 

GM2: 4-Hit Day For Carrillo As Vernon College Chaparral Skirts Past McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity

Four hits from Stonie Carrillo helped lead the way for Vernon College Chaparral over McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity 12-6 on Wednesday.  Carrillo singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and doubled in the sixth.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Vernon College Chaparral collected 11 hits and McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity five in the high-scoring affair

Vernon College Chaparral got things started in the first inning when Kiana Gibson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaparral put up four runs in the second inning.  Vernon College Chaparralput the pressure on, lead by a single by Carrillo and a home run by America Rubio.

McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity scored three runs in the third inning. McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity scored its runs on a triple by Lindsey Evans.

Kaila Eastburn led the Vernon College Chaparral to victory in the circle. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out seven.

Gracy Crafts was in the circle for McLennan Community College Highlanders Varsity. Craftssurrendered six runs on four hits over one and one-third innings.  Anissa Arredondo threw five and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Vernon College Chaparral tallied two home runs on the day. Rubio put one out in the second inning. Logan Menzies had a dinger in the seventh inning.

Vernon College Chaparral totaled 11 hits in the game.  Carrillo, Rubio, and Menzies each racked up multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Carrillo led Vernon College Chaparralwith four hits in four at bats.
