Softball splits the last series of the year and win 40 games for the 1st time in 14 years

VERNON, TX. - Chaps finished the season a high note run-ruling WC and sending the sophomores off on a high note. The momentum will be huge going into the tournament for the Chaps as the look to win their 1st conference championship ever.

Game 1: Vernon College Chaparral Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Coyotes

Vernon College Chaparral snatched the lead late in the game in a 13-9 victory over Coyotes on Friday. The game was tied at five with Vernon College Chaparral batting in the top of the fifth when Chloe Bryant singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Adie Brake led Vernon College Chaparral to victory by driving in five runs.  Brake went 2-for-2 at the plate.  Brake drove in runs on a sacrifice fly in the third and a grand slam in the fifth.

Vernon College Chaparral fired up the offense in the first inning, when Logan Menzies drew a walk, scoring one run.

Laynie Bastow pitched Vernon College Chaparral to victory. Bastow allowed 12 hits and nine runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five.  Kaila Eastburn threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Marcie Moss took the loss for Coyotes. Moss allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two.

Vernon College Chaparral hit two home runs on the day. Brake put one out in the fifth inning. Menzies went yard in the third inning.

Vernon College Chaparral totaled 11 hits.  BrakeEastburnCamile Nunez, and Adrianna Cooney each had multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  CooneyNunezEastburn, and Brake each collected two hits to lead Vernon College Chaparral.

Coyotes saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game.  Kailyne LunaAyanna WilliamsBrooklyn Araujo, and Prya Burns all had multiple hits for Coyotes.

Game 2: Early Lead For Coyotes Seals Fate For Vernon College Chaparral

Vernon College Chaparral fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 5-3 loss to Coyotes on Friday. Coyotes scored on a home run by Stephanie Jimenez and an error in the first inning.

Vernon College Chaparral lost despite out-hitting Coyotes nine to eight.

Vernon College Chaparral got things moving in the first inning.  Camile Nunez drove in one when Nunez singled.

Teoni Lamb was the winning pitcher for Coyotes. The righty allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.

Kaila Eastburn took the loss for Vernon College Chaparral. Eastburn lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out seven.

Vernon College Chaparral socked one home run on the day. Eastburn went for the long ball in the sixth inning.

Vernon College Chaparral totaled nine hits in the game.  Nunez and Adrianna Cooney all collected multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Nunez went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Vernon College Chaparral in hits.

Coyotes totaled eight hits.  Brooklyn Araujo and Prya Burns each racked up multiple hits for Coyotes. Coyotes was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Sierra Nixonhad the most chances in the field with six.

Game 3: Vernon College Chaparral Struggles To Find Groove Against Coyotes

Vernon College Chaparral struggled to get their offense going on Saturday, getting easily dispatched by Coyotes, 11-3.

Destini Trahan took the win for Coyotes. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over five innings.

Laynie Brown took the loss for Vernon College Chaparral. Brown lasted three and a third innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out two and walking zero.

Laynie Bastow started the game for Vernon College Chaparral. The righty went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out one

Chloe BryantStonie CarrilloLexi Mills, and Ashton Zielenski each managed one hit to lead Vernon College Chaparral.  Vernon College Chaparral was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Adie Brake made the most plays with four.

Coyotes tallied 12 hits in the game.  Chloe Sales, Sierra Nixon, and Brooklyn Araujo all collected multiple hits for Coyotes.  Sales led Coyotes with three hits in three at bats.

Game 4: Vernon College Chaparral Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Coyotes

Vernon College Chaparral took the lead late and defeated Coyotes 14-6 on Saturday. The game was tied at six with Vernon College Chaparral batting in the bottom of the fifth when Logan Menzies homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Adrianna Cooney collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Vernon College Chaparral to victory.  Cooney homered in the first, homered in the second, doubled in the fifth, and doubled in the fifth.

Vernon College Chaparral fired up the offense in the first inning, when Cooney hit a solo homer.

Kaila Eastburn earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Vernon College Chaparral. Eastburn went five innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out seven.

Cambree Aguirre started the game for Coyotes. The pitcher surrendered 14 runs on 15 hits over four and two-thirds innings, walking one.

Vernon College Chaparral hit four home runs on the day. Menzies went for the long ball in the third and fifth innings. Cooney had a dinger in the first and second innings.

Vernon College Chaparral had 15 hits in the game.  Cooney, Menzies, and Adie Brake all managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Cooney led Vernon College Chaparralwith four hits in four at bats.

Coyotes collected six hits.  Kailyne Luna, Brooklyn Araujo, and Jesse Armstrong each managed multiple hits for Coyotes.
