Softballs historic season ends at the Regional Tournament

Vernon College Chaparral Falls To Coyotes

In the second inning, Coyotes got their offense started.  Kailyne Luna homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Coyotes pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Luna's sac fly scored one run for Coyotes.

Coyotes scored four runs in the fourth inning. Coyotes batters contributing to the big inning included Brooklyn Araujo, Ayanna Williams, and Luna, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Teoni Lamb earned the win for Coyotes. The righty surrendered four runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four.  Emma Southerland threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Laynie Bastow took the loss for Vernon College Chaparral. The righty lasted three and a third innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs.

Vernon College Chaparral hit three home runs on the day. Chloe Bryant went deep in the third inning. Kaila Eastburn had a four bagger in the fifth inning. Kiana Gibson had a long ball in the fifth inning.

Vernon College Chaparral saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game.  Stonie Carrillo and Gibson all managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Carrillo went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Vernon College Chaparral in hits.  Vernon College Chaparral was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Carrillo made the most plays with ten.

Coyotes collected 13 hits.  Lencia Powell, Stephanie Jimenez, Luna, Araujo, and Prya Burnseach collected multiple hits for Coyotes.  Powell led Coyotes with three hits in three at bats. Coyotes didn't commit a single error in the field. Luna had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
