Softball opens 2021 Region tournament with a win

4-Hit Day For Brake Leads Vernon College Chaparral Past Cisco College Wranglers

Four hits from Adie Brake helped lead Vernon College Chaparral past Cisco College Wranglers 9-5 on Thursday.  Brake doubled in the first, homered in the third, homered in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

Vernon College Chaparral took an early lead in the first inning when.

Vernon College Chaparral took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Brake homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Vernon College Chaparral notched four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to home runs by Logan Menzies and Brake and a triple by Adrianna Cooney.

Kaila Eastburn was the winning pitcher for Vernon College Chaparral. The righty went seven innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out nine.

Bailey Buck started the game for Cisco College Wranglers. The righty went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out two.  Heather Wineman and Michelle Soules entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Vernon College Chaparral hit three home runs on the day. Brake went deep in the third and fourth innings. Menzies had a dinger in the fourth inning.

Vernon College Chaparral tallied 13 hits.  Brake, Eastburn, Camile Nunez, Menzies, and Cooney all managed multiple hits for Vernon College Chaparral.  Brake led Vernon College Chaparral with four hits in four at bats.
